USPA NEWS - SEPTEMBER 17: The Long Lake wildfires complex is currently being held at approximately 8468 hectares, with no additional reports of damage.
The incident command post moved back to the West Dalhousie Community Centre yesterday which is an important community infrastructure that was saved earlier in the firefighting effort.
Ongoing infrared camera scans indicate notable progress in active areas situated in the fire's northern region. However, the escalating dryness of conditions heightens the likelihood of new fires breaking out within the active wildfire zone and previously inactive areas reactivating.
Resources allocated to the fire today comprise 5 helicopters, 2 pieces of heavy equipment, and 7 water tankers. The onsite firefighting team is composed of 45 DNR personnel, 17 from Quebec, 19 from Parks Canada, with additional support staff. NWT planes are flying to meet recertification requirements and are not actively involved in firefighting operations.
